I kinda fell into my geekness as a way to keep money flowing in a big farmhouse that bled money.
I was diagnosed with breast cancer, which by the way hasn’t reared its ugly head in 7 years yea… and as soon as I finished treatment, I was permanently laid off from my really good paying job. I had some money, but I knew it wasn’t going to last forever and I was on a farm that snowed us in most of the winter months. My partner at the time was a web designer with her own business and offered me a chance to work with her. The rest is history.
